Immigration and Visas
Before you can undertake an internship in Australia, you will need to obtain a relevant visa which has work rights.
Navitas Professional Internship Program
Navitas Workforce Solutions can assist you throughout the process of obtaining a visa; however, we strongly suggest that you visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website or consult a migration agent for immigration advice. There are a range of different visas that are suitable for the program. Remember to undertake an internship, you will need a visa that has work rights.
Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417)
Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462)
These visas will allow you to:
- stay in Australia for up to 12 months
- leave and re-enter Australia
- work in Australia for up to 6 months with each employer
- study for up to 4 months
You can apply for these visas if you:
- are between 18 and 30 years of age
- hold a passport for:
- Visa 417: one of the participating countries in the Working Holiday Program
- Visa 462: one of the approved Work and Holiday visa program countries.
Special Program Visa (subclass 416)
This visa will allow you to:
- participate in an approved program that will let you experience the Australian culture and broaden your experience and knowledge
You can apply for this visa if you:
- are invited by an approved Special Program sponsor to participate in an approved youth exchange program
- have been invited by an approved Special Program sponsor to participate in an approved community benefit or cultural enrichment program
Student Visa (various types available)
This visa will allow you to:
- study in Australia
You can apply for these visas if you:
- would like to study English language (ELICOS), Vocational Education and Training (VET), Higher Education or other recognised qualifications
